1951 Ford F-4 Stake Truck - Details

Barn Find with only 23,000 original miles

This truck was located in 1985 in a barn on The Youngstown Vindicator estate on Route 224. It was in good running condition.

Originally, this truck was purchased new in 1951 from Donnell Ford Company of Youngstown. It was carefully maintained with oil changes every year, regardless of miles driven. The truck was used on the estate for hauling logs and ground maintenance, which accounts for the low mileage. A set of unused tire chains were found with the truck, along with a spare wheel. A very rare find indeed!

Other than a few dents and some surface rust, this truck was in very solid condition when acquired by TP Tools. Jim Koval restored the vehicle in our shop. Mechanically, a new clutch was installed, along with a tune-up for the already “like new” engine. The bottoms of the front fenders were rusty and were replaced with new ones. The truck was sandblasted to bare metal and painted with original Ford “Meadow Green” urethane enamel, using our HVLP Paint Spray System. Interior was replaced, including the original red and gray seats.
