1966 Chevelle 396 SS - Details

This Chevelle Malibu Super Sport has a 325 HP 396 cubic inch V8 engine, including dual exhausts, sport wheel covers, tachometer, and two simulated hood scoops, which would become a SS signature. This car has a broad new grille and bumper, a more raked roofline, chrome accents, and a curved side window. The SS 396 was named to take advantage of the emerging muscle car market.

This car’s original MSRP cost was only $2,776 and shipping weight was 3,375 pounds. Total production for this model in 1966 was 72,272.

Specs – Wheelbase: 115″, Overall Length: 197″, Width: 74.6″ and 7.75 x 14″ tires. In 1967 the Malibu was the leading seller of the Chevelle because it boasted the highest number of model options with the 4-door sport sedan, 2-door sport coupe, convertible, 4-door sedan, and 2-seat station wagon. This 1966 396 SS Sport Coupe was one of the fastest production cars.
